of the same University. She also studied corporate sponsorship and management of cultural institutions on a scholarship from the British Council London and the US Information Agency. Early in her career, she was the PR and press officer, as well as Assistant to the General Manager of the National Philharmonic (1977-1991), Secretary of the International Chopin Festival in Duszniki Zdrój (1980-1985), and then the Artistic Secretary and Manager of the Wratislavia Cantans International Festival (1980-1997). In 1998 she was appointed the Secretary General of the Hundreth Anniversary of the Warsaw Philharmonic to prepare events for the occasion throughout 2001. Thanks to her active contribution, the International Wratislavia Cantans Festival directed by Tadeusz Strugala from 1969 grew to be one of Poland's most important music events in Europe. She introduced a number of new promotional measures, and her efforts resulted in lowering costs of the Festival while preserving its high artistic standard. In that period, the Wratislavia Cantans was considered the best-managed cultural institution in Poland, with a modern system of corporate sponsorship. Over the Warsaw Philharmonic project 2001, she was in charge of over 175 concerts and special events featuring world-famous orchestras such as Vienna Philharmonic and Royal Concertgebouv, dozens of ensembles and soloists. She gained many sponsors for the jubilee celebrations, and arranged the illumination of the Philharmonic building, as well as the return to its façade the original statues of Chopin and Moniuszko (made in 1901), and contributed in edition of an album 100 Years of the Philharmonic in Warsaw 1901-2001. Joining the management of the Polish National Opera in 2002, Monika Strugała became the artistic administrator and later, deputy music director. In 2007 she was offered to coordinate the Project of the Bicentennial of Fryderyk Chopin Year 2010, at the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. For all her efforts to bring international standards to the field of music and arts,she was recognized with the Chevalier Cross of Polonia Restituta. Over all these years Monika Strugala worked with great intensity towards promoting British ensembles as well as the British old and contemporary music in Poland, bringing over to International Chopin Festival in Duszniki, the Warsaw Philharmonic Hall, and the Wratislavia Cantans Festival' venues a great number of outstanding British soloists, conductors, orchestras and chamber ensembles, and she was in charge of a very successful Royal visit to Wroclaw of HRH Prince Edward on the occasion of the London Mozart Players concerts. In appreciation of her involvment in the promotion of the British culture in Poland, she was recently appointed by HM The Queen Elisabeth II with the Honorary Officer of the Civil Division of Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
